Determine Host Institution of All THFI-Affiliated Databases
A “host institution” is an institution that agrees to maintain a dataset and the related documentation for a period of time. As a new institute, THFI is in need of an established partner institution to host and maintain THFI-affiliated databases for a period of three to five years.
Roles & Responsibilities of Partner Institution
Infrastructure and Technical Support
Server Hosting: Provide and maintain reliable hardware and software infrastructure to store and serve the database.
IT Support: Ensure continuous access, security, and backups, as well as timely troubleshooting.
Scalability: Ensure the system can grow with increasing data volume or usage.
Licensing and Use
Clarify data ownership, usage rights, and licensing terms.
Strategic Oversight and Sustainability
Funding and Budgeting: Secure funding and allocate resources for database development and maintenance.
Long-Term Planning: Develop strategies for database sustainability and relevance.
Roles & Responsibilities of THFI
Data Stewardship and Management
Data Integrity: Ensure data is accurate, validated, and up-to-date.
Metadata Standards: Maintain comprehensive metadata and documentation for users.
Version Control: Track changes and updates to data over time.
Ethical Oversight
Provide governance structures to handle ethical concerns around data collection and use.
Access and User Support
User Access: Define and manage user permissions and authentication.
Helpdesk and Training: Offer support, tutorials, and documentation to help users interact with the database effectively.
Stakeholder Engagement
Partnership Management: Work with data contributors, funders, and user communities.
Outreach and Communication: Promote the database through academic, industry, and public channels.
